DescriptionThe whole story▼

RR milled into an open-form throttle housing. The JP CO BM018RR replaces the K46 S1000RR's throttle assembly and right-hand switch block with one machined Ergal body.

Key Features

  • BMW S1000RR (2015–2018)
  • Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
  • RR lettering milled into the housing
  • Integrated right-hand switch block
  • Black anodised
  • Plug-and-play on the original connector

The Letters on the Fairing, Repeated

RR has identified BMW's superbike since 2009 and appears on the tail unit, the fairing and the clutch cover. Milling it into the throttle housing continues that rather than introducing anything new, which is the argument for this version over the plain one. The unlettered housing exists for owners who would rather it did not.

An Open Body on a Superbike

The BM018 shape is relieved rather than fully enclosed, unlike the closed round BM008 that also fits this motorcycle. Both carry the same controls and use the same connector; the difference is what the cockpit looks like from the saddle. The open form shows more of the bar and the cable run behind it.

Why the K46 Needs This Part

These motorcycles are now old enough that the original assembly has usually been through several seasons of track use, and the switches inside the throttle housing cannot be renewed separately. When the mode button starts requiring a firmer press, the whole component is the only route back to a definite action.

Black Only on This Body

Where the BM008 family is anodised in four colours, this housing is offered in black. On a track-prepared RR that is rarely a constraint, since the prevailing preference in a race cockpit is for nothing to catch the eye at all.

Which of the Four Housings

JetPrime lists this motorcycle with a closed body and an open one, each available with or without RR lettering, and the closed family additionally in four anodised colours. They all carry the same controls and use the same connector. The choice is about the shape and the finish, not about function.

Sealed for the Wash Bay

Race and track machines are cleaned hot and often. Sealed switch elements inside a one-piece milled body leave no route for water, which is a more relevant durability question for this part than mileage ever is.
