The SC77 Fireblade arrived in 2017 with a full electronics package, a lighter chassis and — still — a conventional key barrel bolted to the top yoke. On a bike Honda spent years shaving grams from, it is the obvious thing left to remove. JP KS HO017 does exactly that, on both the standard Fireblade and the SP.
Key Features
- Direct replacement for the CBR1000RR Fireblade ignition block, 2017–2019
- Covers the SP as well as the base model on one part number
- Approximately 350 g removed from the steering head
- Solid-machined Ergal housing, anodised black
- IP69K-rated push button, sealed against pressure washing
- Key Box supplied so the HISS immobiliser stays in circuit
Keeping HISS Happy
Honda's HISS immobiliser reads a transponder in the key head through an antenna ring around the barrel. Pull the barrel out and the engine will not run. The Key Box in this kit solves that: the original Honda key sits inside an Ergal housing that connects directly to the immobiliser antenna, so the security system continues to see what it expects while the lock itself leaves the cockpit.
Fitted and Forgotten
The switch uses the standard mounting points and the factory loom connector — nothing is cut, nothing is soldered. That keeps the job short, and it keeps it reversible, which matters on a bike as sought-after as an SP: the original ignition assembly can go back on before sale with no evidence it ever came off.
Fitment and Compatibility
- Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade (2017–2019)
- Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP (2017–2019)
Road Approval
None. Removing the ignition lock and relocating the immobiliser interface takes the motorcycle outside its type approval. The JP KS HO017 is sold for closed-circuit and competition use only.
A Note on Finish
The housing is anodised black rather than painted. On an SP, where the fork tops and the yoke are already finished to a high standard, that matters: anodising is part of the metal rather than a layer on top of it, so it does not chip where a tank bag strap or a glove catches the edge of the switch, and it will not fade unevenly next to the surrounding alloy over a few seasons.
