DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a heavy sports tourer like the Kawasaki GTR 1400, the rear brake is used more than on a sports bike: for low-speed manoeuvring, parking on a slope and settling the bike before a bend. Accossato's AGPP143 rear pad in Organic mixture fits the GTR 1400 from 2007 to 2016, with and without ABS. It is aimed at owners who want a quiet, smooth rear brake that wears the disc gently.

Key Features

  • Rear pads AGPP143 for the Kawasaki GTR 1400, 2007 to 2016
  • Organic mixture, SKU AGPP143OR
  • Long working life with limited disc wear, per Accossato
  • Smooth pedal response for manoeuvring
  • Quiet operation
  • Fits standard and ABS models
  • Also offered as ST
  • No ABE held by us; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's Organic mixture is described as providing longer-lasting performance and reduced disc wear. On the rear of a GTR 1400, where the brake works often but gently, both properties help to keep running costs down. The company also claims its pads resist fading because heat stays moderate, and that they deliver a firm stop. The compound is bonded to the AGPP143 plate.

Manoeuvring a Heavy Bike

Turning a GTR 1400 in a narrow street or edging it into a parking space is where the rear brake proves its value. A light, controlled press steadies the bike without upsetting the front, and a pad with a progressive bite makes that easier. The organic mixture responds gently from the first touch, which suits slow, careful manoeuvres.

Because the rear brake of a heavy tourer is used so often, check the pad depth at every service and before long trips. Keep the disc clean, and on ABS models make sure the fluid is replaced at the recommended intervals.

On a shaft-driven GTR 1400, the rear wheel area stays cleaner than on a chain-driven bike, yet brake dust still settles around the caliper. Wipe it out at each tyre change, which is also a convenient moment to look at the Organic pads, since the wheel is already out.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPP143 for the rear brake of the Kawasaki GTR 1400 from 2007 to 2016, including the ABS version. The front of the GTR 1400 takes AGPA107, and Accossato also lists the DK235 disc. The box covers the single rear caliper.

Road Approval

AGPP143OR has no ABE or German approval documentation in our records. The pads are sold for competition purposes.
