DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is one of those bikes that quietly does everything: commuting, weekend loops, a little touring. Accossato's AGPA72 front pad in the Organic mixture is listed for the Versys 650 from 2015 to 2026, including the ABS and LT versions, and in our garage it covers the Tourer and Grand Tourer too. It is intended for daily riders, learners and anyone who spends more time in city traffic than on open roads and wants a quiet front brake that looks after the discs.

Key Features

  • AGPA72 front pads for the Kawasaki Versys 650, 2015 to 2026
  • Organic mixture, article AGPA72OR
  • Accossato: lasting performance and reduced disc wear
  • Mild, progressive bite that suits newer riders
  • Quiet operation in stop-start traffic
  • Effective from the first cold stop of the morning
  • Same plate also produced as ST, EV1 and EV2
  • No German approval documents; supplied for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato states that this mixture gives long-lasting performance and keeps disc wear low. On a commuter that does many short journeys, both qualities are worth having, because the discs see thousands of light stops a year. The maker also says that its pads stay cool enough to limit fade and that they brake powerfully. The Organic compound is carried on the standard AGPA72 plate.

Commuting on a Versys 650

A typical weekday for a Versys 650 starts with a cold engine, a wet driveway and a queue at the first set of lights. The front brake is used dozens of times before the rider reaches work, mostly gently. A pad that bites smoothly from cold, stays quiet at walking pace and does not grind away at the discs makes these trips calmer.

Riding schools and newer riders appreciate the same thing: a lever that responds in proportion to how hard it is squeezed. After fitting, stop gently a number of times to bed the pads in, and keep an eye on the fluid level as the pads wear.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato catalogues AGPA72 for the front of the KLE 650 Versys and its ABS and LT variants, spanning 2015 to 2026, which our garage lists as the Kawasaki Versys 650, Versys 650 Tourer and Grand Tourer. At the rear, AGPP185 covers 2015 to 2016 and AGPP88 covers 2016 to 2026. The Versys 650 uses twin front discs with two calipers, so both sides need a box each.

Road Approval

No ABE or approval certificate for AGPA72OR has been made available to us. It is intended for competition use.

Scope of Delivery

One box, two Organic front pads, sufficient for one caliper.
