DescriptionThe whole story▼
Drawn directly from SC-Project's WSBK Championship programme, the S1 slip-on silencer for the Kawasaki ZX-10 R/RR (2016-2020) is a study in precision engineering. Every component — from the T.I.G.-welded titanium canister to the CNC-machined titanium bushings — reflects the exacting build standards that have made SC-Project a fixture on the world's most demanding circuits. The result is a road-legal exhaust upgrade that delivers genuine, measurable gains without compromising the finish expected of a premium Italian manufacturer.
Key Features
- Titanium canister in a tapered conical form — maximises aerodynamic efficiency while keeping weight to a minimum at just 1.2 kg versus 2.2 kg stock, a saving of 1.0 kg
- Carbon fibre end cap with integrated heat-resistant acoustic material — handles extreme temperatures while maintaining a clean racing aesthetic
- T.I.G.-welded titanium connections throughout — the highest-strength weld process available, ensuring every joint is as precise as it is durable
- CNC-machined titanium bushings — tight tolerances guarantee a perfect fit on the ZX-10 R/RR link pipe every time
- Laser-engraved SC-Project logo — a refined detail that marks the provenance of this exhaust unmistakably
- Includes db-killer for EURO 4 road homologation — removable for full racing sound on closed circuits
Construction and Materials
SC-Project's material choices on the S1 are deliberate and uncompromising. The main body is spun and formed from aerospace-grade titanium, chosen for its extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio and natural heat resistance. Unlike stainless steel alternatives, titanium develops a distinctive heat-patina over time, giving each silencer a character that is entirely its own.
The carbon fibre end cap is not merely decorative. It incorporates a specialist sound-dampening layer that manages both thermal output and noise characteristics, allowing the silencer to run closer to the engine without risk to surrounding components. All titanium joints are T.I.G.-welded by hand to a standard that leaves weld seams as a design feature rather than a flaw, and the CNC-machined bushings ensure the unit locates precisely on the original mounting points without any shimming or adaptation.
Performance
The S1's internal geometry is developed from SC-Project's WSBK data. On the Kawasaki ZX-10 R/RR the unit delivers a measured gain of +1.4 hp at 10,000 rpm and +1.1 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm, improving both throttle response and top-end drive. The titanium link pipe — included in the system — optimises exhaust gas flow across the rev range rather than concentrating gains at a single point, which translates into a broader, more usable spread of performance on road and track alike.
The 1.0 kg weight reduction lowers the centre of mass and reduces unsprung rotational inertia, making the ZX-10 R/RR feel noticeably more responsive in direction changes. Combined with the power gains, the real-world effect on a fast road or a track day is immediately apparent.
Sound Character
With the db-killer in place the S1 produces a deep, composed tone that is sporting without being intrusive — compliant with EURO 4 regulations and entirely suitable for daily road use. Remove the db-killer for track sessions and the full acoustic range of the titanium canister opens up: a broad, resonant racing note that reflects the displacement and character of the ZX-10 R/RR's inline-four engine accurately.
Fitment and Compatibility
This silencer is designed and homologated specifically for the following models:
- Kawasaki ZX-10 R (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
- Kawasaki ZX-10 RR (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
The unit is a direct slip-on replacement requiring no modification to the original headers or mounting hardware. All necessary springs and fixings are included in the box.
