DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every Öhlins part number covers one machine. FFX 1205 covers the Suzuki RM-Z450 (2013–2023). The front end is where a rider's confidence is won or lost on the RM-Z450.
Key Features
- Spring rate as delivered: 4,7 N/mm, matched to the RM-Z450
- Stroke: 301 mm
- Spring part number 02428-47 fitted
- Model-specific fitment for the Suzuki RM-Z450 (2013–2023) — no modification required
Fitted to the RM-Z450
Öhlins covers the 11-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. Braking bumps and jump landings load the suspension at the two extremes of its range within the same corner.
Damping and Adjustment
The fitted spring rate is 4,7 N/mm, chosen against the RM-Z450's weight distribution rather than a catalogue average. Eye-to-eye length is 943 mm, fixed for this application. Spring part number 02428-47 is a separate catalogue item, so a rate change is inexpensive. The damper moves 301 mm from full extension to full compression. Preload is adjusted separately from damping, and the two should not be confused. Compression and rebound adjusters sit at the fork tops and work independently.
How Öhlins Builds It
Öhlins applies a low-friction coating to the sliding surfaces on most fork numbers, which reduces stiction. Tube diameter, offset and axle clamp are all specified per model so the assembly drops into the standard yokes. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.
Where This Sits in the Öhlins Line-up
The coil holds its rate as the fork heats and needs no pressure check between motos. Air forks need a pressure check before every ride, and the RXF 48 S removes that step entirely. The RXF 48 is Öhlins' motocross and enduro fork, and the S version adds the spring conversion — a coil spring in place of the air system many current forks use.
Fitment and Compatibility
Öhlins part number FFX 1205 is the correct number for the Suzuki RM-Z450 as built 2013–2023. It is model-specific rather than universal: length, stroke and valving are all set for this chassis.
Road Approval
Road approval: unclear. There is no published German approval for this part on the Suzuki RM-Z450, and we would rather tell you that than imply one exists.
