Where It Sits
14.1 mm, 40 mm, 25 mm: that is the whole specification, and it has to match what came out. Where a part supersedes an older number, Öhlins states it in the catalogue. Replacement parts come from the same production as the components they go into. An original Öhlins service part, listed under its own number in the Öhlins spare parts catalogue.
Why the Original
Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier.
Identifying the Right Part
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 00163-11 in this case. dimension a 14.1 mm, dimension b 40 mm, dimension c 25 mm is what distinguishes this number from its neighbours in the range. Where a part supersedes an older number, Öhlins states it in the catalogue. Ordering by number from the exploded view is the reliable way to get the right piece.
Fitting and Setup Service
We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.
