Size chart MT Helmets Stinger 2
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Head circumference (inch) |
|---|---|---|
| XXS | 51–52 cm | 20.1–20.5 in |
| XS | 53–54 cm | 20.9–21.3 in |
| S | 55–56 cm | 21.7–22.0 in |
| M | 57–58 cm | 22.4–22.8 in |
| L | 59–60 cm | 23.2–23.6 in |
| XL | 61–62 cm | 24.0–24.4 in |
| XXL | 63–64 cm | 24.8–25.2 in |
| XXXL | 65–66 cm | 25.6–26.0 in |

How to measure your helmet size correctly: Measure your head circumference with a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. Measure 2–3 times and compare with the chart. Between sizes, usually choose the larger size.
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without uncomfortable pressure points. A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

The same toucan as the white version, on a shell that has stopped apologising: yellow and orange panels with deep green palm fronds across the flank and the chin bar, and the bird's bill running forward through the middle of it. This is the loudest helmet MT builds at this price.
About the Caribbean C3 finish
Gloss. The lower shell and chin bar are yellow and orange, blocked out in panels; over them run teal and deep green fronds, with the toucan in black, white and orange occupying the flank. STINGER 2 is lettered in a small banner near the chin.
The difference from the white version is not the drawing — it is identical — but the ground. On white the bird is the subject and the shell is a page; here the whole helmet is the illustration, and the bird is one element of a scene. It is the harder of the two to print and the one that reads from further away.
Yellow-orange sits close to the peak sensitivity of human daytime vision, which is why it is the colour used on high-visibility clothing and road machinery. Against grey tarmac, hedgerow or a queue of dark cars it is high contrast in almost every direction, and contrast is what peripheral vision resolves long before it resolves shape or detail.
It is not fluorescent, so it does not have the extra intensity of a neon panel in flat overcast light, and like every colour it does nothing after dark. Retroreflective material on the jacket does the night-time work.
Sizes from XXS — and why that matters here
The Stinger 2 runs from XXS (51–52 cm) to XL, which very few full-face helmets do.
Riders with smaller heads are routinely sold an XS that is a size too big because most ranges stop there — and a helmet that is too big rotates on the head in an impact and can come off entirely. No strap adjustment fixes that. It matters on a bright, cheerful helmet in particular, because this is the kind of helmet bought as a first one, and first helmets are the ones most often bought a size up "to be comfortable".
The standard this helmet clears
ECE 22.06 became mandatory across Europe in January 2024, and the change from 22.05 was substantial rather than administrative. Where the old standard struck a helmet at five fixed points at one speed, the new one strikes it at 18, at more than one speed, with some points chosen by the test house so a shell cannot be tuned to known targets.
The addition that matters is an angled strike against a rough anvil, which loads the helmet in rotation rather than straight in. Rotational acceleration is the mechanism behind diffuse brain injury and 22.05 did not measure it in any form. MT publishes no DOT marking for the Stinger 2, and we do not claim one.
When to replace it
Two triggers, and only one of them is visible.
After any impact, immediately, however undamaged it looks. The EPS liner works by crushing, once; it does not spring back, and a compressed region is invisible from outside. A helmet dropped hard onto a kerb is a helmet to replace.
After around five years from first use, regardless of mileage. The EPS loses its ability to crush progressively, the adhesives holding it to the shell age, and the padding compresses permanently. A helmet worn twice a year ages almost as fast as one worn daily, because the clock is chemistry rather than use.
Nothing drops down inside this helmet
The Stinger 2 has no internal shade — there is solid shell where a more expensive helmet hides a tinted visor behind the brow.
The answer is a second screen rather than a different helmet: a smoked MT-V-28B costs a fraction of the step up to a model with a built-in shade, and a tinted screen is darker and optically better than any drop-down blind, which has to stay light enough to survive a tunnel. What you give up is spontaneity — the screen has to be in your bag, and a swap is a stop rather than a thumb movement.
Fogging, and the one thing that fixes it
The Pinlock DKS435 the screen is drilled for does not come in the box, and it is the accessory to buy first if you ride at all outside summer.
It is a second lens held a fraction of a millimetre off the visor on two pins and sealed by a silicone bead; the trapped air keeps the inner surface above dew point, so warm breath finds nothing cold to condense on. Ventilation only clears a visor while you are actually moving — which is why a helmet fogs at a red light and not at 80 km/h, and why no vent system can substitute for the insert.
The shell and interior
HIRP injection-moulded thermoplastic at around 1,600 g, an MT-MDTC double-teeth closure, and a hypoallergenic, removable and washable lining with a slot for a universal UCS intercom.
The protection is identical to the plainest Stinger 2 MT sells. What you are choosing here is a print run.
What the label inside the strap says
Sewn into the chin strap is a white label carrying a circled E, a country number, and a code beginning 06. That leading 06 is the part that matters: it identifies the helmet as approved under ECE 22.06 rather than the superseded 22.05.
It is worth knowing how to read it, because the two standards look identical from the outside and plenty of 22.05 stock is still circulating at attractive prices. A 22.05 helmet is not illegal to wear, but it was never subjected to the rotational test — which is the substantive difference between the two and the one that concerns the injury mechanism nobody used to measure.
Looking after strong colour
Yellow and orange are among the least UV-stable pigments in any paint system. A helmet left on a sunny windowsill through a summer visibly loses intensity.
Kept in its bag or a cupboard between rides it holds its saturation for years of ordinary use. And never wipe a dry shell — gloss shows swirls, and on a helmet this bright they are the first thing anyone sees.
