The Same Functions, Reordered

Why the Order Matters at All

Traction goes up as the rear tyre goes off and the map often comes down as the track cools. Both happen while moving, which is why these particular contacts see so many cycles.

A track bike is pressure washed twenty minutes after coming in, while everything is still warm. That, rather than mileage, is what actually ends switchgear on a circuit motorcycle.

Nothing is cut, so the original block returns whenever it is wanted. A 1199 that has been raced sells better with its road switchgear back in place.
Ducati's Difficult Superbike
The 1199 asked a great deal of its rider and was never straightforwardly successful in World Superbike. On a circuit it rewards precision and punishes approximation, which is much of its reputation.
Eight Levels of Traction
Fine granularity rather than three vague settings, adjustable on the move. In 2012 that resolution belonged to racing electronics rather than to production motorcycles.
A Hundred and Sixty-Four Kilograms
Dry. Deleting the frame entirely and letting the airbox carry load between the headstock and the engine is how Ducati got there.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, red and titanium. A race bike collects marks and an anodised surface dulls at the contact point rather than flaking away from it.
