DescriptionThe whole story▼
High summer brings enduro a hazard of its own: dust. On a dry loop the rider in front leaves a cloud hanging between the trees, and whatever hides inside it, a rock, a hole, a sharp turn, shows itself only at the last moment. On the Beta RR 390 four-stroke that makes the front brake lever the control you reach for first whenever the view clears. The B8206, Accossato's replacement front brake lever for the RR 390 four-stroke of 2015 to 2022, is CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, stays short enough for three fingers and carries its blade on a folding joint.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Beta RR 390 four-stroke, model years 2015 to 2022
- Takes the place of the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Anti-break joint: the blade can swing forward in a crash
- Three-finger blade length, shorter than Accossato's clutch lever
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black, blue, gold or red blade; dark base
- No German ABE on file; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
The alloy is the starting point: Ergal 7075, an aluminium grade with zinc as its main addition and a great deal of strength for its weight. Accossato mills the B8206 from a solid piece of it on CNC equipment in Italy, aiming, in its own words, at strength, low weight and reliability. What you fit is a dark base, mounted at the original pivot of the master cylinder, and a blade in the colour you choose, joined to that base by the folding joint. Its length is Accossato's brake-lever length: room for three fingers and no more.
Braking Blind in the Dust
Dust changes how you use the brakes. With the view ahead cut to a few bike lengths, you ride a little slower than you would like and keep three fingers resting on the lever, ready to scrub off speed the moment something solid appears. Hard-packed ground under a layer of powder behaves unpredictably: the tyre seems to grip, then skates on the loose surface, and a firm squeeze at the wrong moment can lock the front wheel.
That is how many dusty crashes begin. The front tucks, the RR 390 four-stroke drops onto its right side and slides, and the brake lever scrapes along hard ground before the bike comes to rest. If the blade can fold forward, as the joint on the B8206 allows, it stands a better chance of escaping the worst of the impact. Nothing about that is certain, but when you pick up the Beta RR 390 four-stroke, still coughing in the dust of the rider you were following, a lever that is still there means you can climb straight back on. Hang back a little afterwards: the cloud has not settled, and the rider ahead has not slowed down for you.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's fitment data places the B8206 on the Beta RR 390 four-stroke of 2015 to 2022, in place of the standard lever at the front brake. The C7283 looks after the clutch side of the same bike across those eight model years, and it folds in the same way. For matching blades, black, blue or red will do; gold is a brake-only choice.
Road Approval
Without a German ABE, the B8206 is for off-road and competition riding. A registered RR 390 four-stroke with this lever fitted is not approved for public roads.
Scope of Delivery
