DescriptionThe whole story▼

Café racers have always been personal machines, and many a Thruxton 1200 R has been changed by its owner since it left the showroom. Grips get swapped, bar-end weights or mirrors are replaced, a seat cowl goes on. Several of those changes happen right next to the clutch lever, on a clip-on with little room to spare. The Accossato EST333P, milled from aluminium for the Thruxton R of 2016 to 2019, has an adjustable reach and a blade in three lengths, which helps once the space at the end of the bar has changed.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the Thruxton 1200 R from 2016 to 2019
  • Fits the original clutch mounting in place of the stock lever
  • Blade in three lengths, the standard one around 138 mm
  • Reach to the grip adjustable near the pivot
  • Aluminium, machined on CNC equipment, anodised in two tones
  • Hub always black; blade in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green
  • Rigid from pivot to tip
  • Sold for the track, as no German ABE is documented

Construction and Material Quality

The EST333P is machined from solid aluminium rather than cast, and the part is anodised once it is finished. The result has two distinct zones. The hub, which holds the pivot and the adjuster, is black on every version and sits quietly next to the switch housing, while the blade carries the colour you selected and is the part people notice. Because that colour is formed in the surface of the metal instead of being painted on, it does not flake when a glove or a bike cover rubs across it day after day. The blade is one continuous piece without a hinge, so the lever moves as a unit every time you pull.

Clearance at the End of the Bar

A clip-on is short, and on the Thruxton R the space at its outer end is shared by the grip, the clutch lever and whatever is fitted to the bar end. Change one of them and the others are affected. A thicker aftermarket grip moves the fingers further from the blade, which the reach adjuster can correct. Bar-end mirrors and heavier bar-end weights sit close to the path the lever tip follows as you pull it in, and a long blade reaches furthest in that direction. After any change of this kind, sit on the Thruxton R in your riding gloves, pull the clutch fully a few times and watch the tip. It should not touch the mirror stem or the weight, and your little finger should not be trapped between them. The short blade ends further inboard and leaves the most room, while the standard length suits most riders.

Fitment and Compatibility

The EST333P appears on Accossato's list for the Thruxton 1200 R of 2016 to 2019 and replaces the original lever on the left clip-on. For the right-hand side of the same bikes, Accossato offers the EDF099 brake lever. Length and colour are linked: black and red come in standard length only, silver in standard or short, and the remaining four colours in all three lengths.

Road Approval

This clutch lever comes without a documented German ABE; we offer it for circuit riding.
