DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato has an off-road past: in 1985 the Italian company won an enduro world title. The 690 Enduro R is KTM's big single for riders who take that kind of terrain seriously, from gravel roads to rocky trails far from the tarmac, and on loose ground braking is a matter of feel rather than force. For the 690 Enduro R of 2014 to 2020, Accossato makes the EDB012, a milled aluminium brake lever that puts the blade where a gloved finger can feel it.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the KTM 690 Enduro R, 2014 to 2020
- Fits the original master cylinder
- Adjustable reach for thin off-road gloves or thicker winter gloves
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long versions
- Colours: black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver, green
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, with black hub
- Rigid blade without a folding joint
Construction and Material Quality
Hosing down after a muddy ride is routine on a 690 Enduro R, and that is where an anodised lever shows its worth: the colour is locked into the surface of the aluminium rather than painted on, so there is no coating for grit and water to lift. The EDB012 is milled on CNC machines, its hub finished in black around the pivot and the reach adjustment, its blade in the colour you choose. It is a fixed lever, one continuous piece from hub to tip. That gives the 690 Enduro R a direct, unambiguous link between finger and master cylinder, although, like any rigid lever, it is well worth shielding with hand guards when the riding gets rough.
Braking Where the Ground Moves
On gravel, sand or wet clay, the front tyre can lock long before the brake is working hard, and a locked front wheel on loose ground often ends in a fall. Experienced enduro riders therefore use the front brake in a way that looks almost timid: light, early and constantly adjusted, with a large share of the slowing done by the rear brake and the engine. Standing on the pegs, the hand also has to hold the bar firmly while a finger or two works the lever, so the blade must be within reach without the wrist bending down. On the 690 Enduro R, set the reach while standing, in your boots and gloves, so that your index and middle fingers meet the lever with the arm relaxed. The short blade is popular off road because the other fingers stay around the grip and cannot be trapped when the front drops into a hole; the standard blade gives more to hold on the road sections in between. Either way, the first part of the lever's travel should be easy to feel through a glove, because on loose ground it is often the only part you use.
Fitment and Compatibility
Listed years for the 690 Enduro R: 2014 to 2020, with the EDB012 fitted on the bike's own master cylinder. The ESA090 is Accossato's clutch lever for the same bike, listed more widely from 2013 to 2023 and made in the same colours, so both sides can match.
Road Approval
The EDB012 is sold for track use; there is no German ABE documented for it.
