DescriptionThe whole story▼

The CBR600RR is a track favourite for good reason, and an engine derived from it powered every bike in the Moto2 class from 2010 to 2018. Riders who take one to the circuit soon discover that brakes behave differently when they are hot: several laps of hard stops heat the fluid, and the lever can start to come back closer to the grip. The Accossato EDF033 is a machined aluminium brake lever for the original master cylinder of the CBR600RR, listed from 2007 to 2021, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Honda CBR600RR, 2007 to 2021
  • Mounts on the original master cylinder
  • Adjustable reach, so you can keep a margin to the grip
  • Short blade for two-finger braking; standard approx. 138 mm; long also available
  • Seven blade colours; hub black
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Fixed blade without a folding joint
  • Sold for track use; no German ABE documented

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato knows racing brakes from its own work: its experience with brake discs comes from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, the middle one being the class those Honda engines powered. The EDF033 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised, with a black hub, which holds the pivot and the adjuster, and a blade in the colour you choose, joined without a folding joint. The lever has no joint that could add play, so any change you feel through it comes from the brakes themselves.

Leave Room for a Hot Session

On the road, brake fluid rarely gets hot enough to matter. On a circuit it can, especially on a 600, which carries high corner speeds but still needs several hard stops per lap. As the fluid and the pads heat up, the lever may travel further before the brakes bite, and in extreme cases it comes back towards the grip. That is why the reach should not be set too close. If the blade already sits near the grip when the brakes are cold, a hot session can leave your fingers trapped against the throttle. Set the EDF033 so that there is a clear gap between the fully pulled lever and your other fingers, and check it again after the first session of the day, when everything is at working temperature. Fresh brake fluid of the type Honda specifies, changed at the recommended intervals, keeps this behaviour in check. If the lever becomes noticeably softer as a session goes on, come in and let the brakes cool rather than pushing on. A CBR600RR that brakes consistently all day is quicker than one that fades after five laps.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF033 for the CBR600RR from 2007 to 2021, mounted on the original master cylinder. For the clutch, it lists the ESY688H for the CBR600RR from 2003 to 2017 and again from 2022 to 2025. The same brake lever is also listed for the CBR1000RR of 2004 to 2019.

Road Approval

Without a documented German ABE, the EDF033 belongs on the track, and that is how we sell it.
