DescriptionThe whole story▼

Few motorcycles carry as much electronics as the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air. Alongside riding modes, electronic suspension and the usual rider aids, this version has the control system for an airbag jacket built into the bike, ready to trigger it if a crash is detected. Yet at the left end of the handlebar sits something entirely mechanical: the hydraulic clutch, with a small reservoir of fluid that simply needs looking at. For that reservoir, Accossato lists the FP007 for the 1260 S D-Air from 2018 to 2020, an anodised aluminium cover shaped on CNC machines.

Key Features

  • Clutch master cylinder cover for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 S D-Air, 2018 to 2020
  • For the original clutch master cylinder, according to Accossato
  • Aluminium, CNC-machined and anodised
  • Six colours: blue, black, orange, red, silver, gold
  • TS003 front brake reservoir cap listed for the same bike
  • Check fitment against the application list
  • No German ABE on record; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

The FP007 is CNC-machined out of aluminium and then anodised in blue, black, orange, red, silver or gold. Accossato designs it for the original clutch master cylinders of the listed bikes, so on the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air nothing changes except the reservoir lid, and the hydraulic system stays as Ducati built it. Look at the diaphragm or seal under the old cover before closing the reservoir, and replace it if it has cracked, hardened or lost its shape.

Plain Hydraulics Among the Electronics

A modern Multistrada tells its rider a great deal through the dashboard, from the riding mode to service reminders. The clutch fluid is not part of that conversation. It ages quietly, taking up moisture from the air over time, and the first sign is usually a lever that feels a little different or a bite point that has wandered. So the old-fashioned check still matters on a Multistrada 1260 S D-Air. With the engine off, turn the bars until the clutch reservoir sits level and look at the fluid: it belongs between the marks and should be clear. Renew it at the interval in the owner's manual; a new cover does not change that. Fitting the FP007 is a short job. Protect the tank and the fairing with a cloth, because the fluid damages paint, and keep water at hand to rinse off any splash immediately. Open the reservoir only briefly, fasten the new cover gently, then pull the lever several times before starting the engine. The bite point should be exactly where it was. Electronics can do a great deal for safety on this bike, but a well-kept clutch is still the rider's job.

Fitment and Compatibility

On Accossato's list, the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air of 2018 to 2020 carries the FP007 on its original clutch master cylinder. The same cover is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro and the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200. For the front brake reservoir of the D-Air, Accossato offers the TS003, so both reservoirs on the handlebar can wear the same colour. Check the list against your bike before buying.

Road Approval

Our documentation includes no ABE or test mark for the FP007; it is therefore sold for track and competition use.
