Most GSX-R150s spend their lives doing an unsporting job: a few kilometres at a time, in traffic, twice a day. An intake that never fully warms through behaves differently from one that does. Cool damp mornings leave moisture in the airbox, and that moisture meets whatever dust is already lying on the element. Damp dust packs down and stays put; dry dust sits loose and blows off. That difference is why washable is the operative word on a short-trip machine — it decides whether the element in your hand is one that compressed air restores, or one that has to meet water and come back from it.
Key Features
- Dry and free of oil, so a proper wash is possible and nothing is left for the sensors
- 14 microns of filtration, at an airflow of 1,800 litres per square metre per second
- Roughly double the surface of other performance filters does the filtering
- Sprint Filter place it with dust, everyday use and long distances
- The standard airbox keeps its shape and the engine its mapping — only the element changes
- Reusable for the motorcycle's life; two years of warranty from purchase
Why washable is the operative word
Because the medium is dry, a wash is simply a wash: lukewarm water, a mild detergent, a rinse, then drying. Nothing has to be re-oiled afterwards, and no fresh film sits upstream of the throttle body waiting to travel. A paper cartridge cannot be treated that way at all — once it has been properly wet it swells and does not come back, so on a machine whose filter regularly carries moisture the medium decides whether cleaning is even on the table. The drying rule is not a formality either: heat or a flame damages the material, so the element dries in open air and goes back in dry.
The medium, and when it is the wrong one
The P14 filters at 14 microns and flows 1,800 litres per square metre per second; the P08, Sprint Filter's standard road medium, filters at 80 and flows 5,050. Finer means more retention and less flow, in that order and always — a trade rather than a ranking. Sprint Filter place the P14 with dust, daily riding and long distance rather than with maximum airflow, and a GSX-R150 used for commuting sits squarely inside that description. One that gets taken to track days does not: there the wider flow margin of the P08 is the honest recommendation, and swapping between the two is a two-minute job in the same housing.
Care and cleaning
After dusty or damp weeks, take the PM250P14 out and blow it through from the clean side outwards with compressed air. A deeper clean is lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. Then complete drying in open air, never with heat and never with a flame, before it goes back in dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-R150, built 2017 to 2020, a direct replacement in the standard airbox with no modification. The same element also serves the other small-capacity Suzukis on this airbox plus one machine from another marque, five motorcycles in all; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
