A price list is a document with edges, and this entry sits on one of them. Sprint Filter lists K196P14 for the Bear 650 as a kit; it lists a second number for the same three motorcycles as a plain element, and it puts the kit above the bare panel. What the kit comprises is written down nowhere in that list. So everything below is what the catalogue supports — the medium, the fit and the care — with the scope of supply left where it belongs, on the Fitment and Downloads tabs rather than in a sentence we made up.
Key Features
- Listed by Sprint Filter as a kit, above the plain element carrying the same medium
- P14 specialist non-woven, run dry, with filtration rated at 14 microns
- Rated flow of 1,800 l/m²/sec, against 5,050 for the woven road element in this housing
- Never oiled, so there is no film to renew and none to be carried onto a sensor
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, in the series airbox
- Washed and refitted rather than replaced; two years of warranty from purchase
What the catalogue says, and where it stops
Three things are documented: the medium, the three machines it is listed against, and the word kit. The rest is not, and inventing it would be worse than admitting it. The Fitment tab carries the machines and years exactly as Sprint Filter publishes them, the Downloads tab carries the manufacturer's own paperwork, and between them they are where scope of supply is confirmed before ordering. If all you want is the filter panel in this medium, the plain number is the one to look at — it covers the same three machines.
The medium itself, which is not in doubt
Fourteen microns of filtration at 1,800 l/m²/sec: more of what the air carries held back, less air let through, and the two move together because they have to. A finer medium is never the better one in the abstract, only the one drawn for harder air; the woven element in the same box is rated 80 microns and 5,050, and on clean sealed roads it is the more sensible buy. Sprint Filter publishes no retention percentage for the non-woven media as it does for the woven ones, so the evidence here is two ratings and no third. And nothing here is a power claim: a drop-in element leaves a standard 650 twin exactly as strong as it was.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air on the clean face of K196P14, worked outwards, is the routine. A non-woven holds part of its load inside its thickness, so it releases more slowly than a weave and wants patience rather than pressure. Greasy contamination comes off with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then a proper rinse. Drying is unheated moving air, never a radiator, heat gun or flame, and it goes back untreated and completely dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Royal Enfield Bear 650 of 2025 and 2026. Two further machines share this number and this airbox, the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650, both from 2018 to 2026. Confirm your machine, your year and the scope of supply in the Fitment tab before ordering.
