Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 (2020–2026) PM200S

The 250 is the version of the Svartpilen that most owners actually keep for years — enough engine to be useful outside town, small enough to be cheap to run. Long ownership changes which qualities of a service part matter. What counts is not the price of one element but whether you are buying the same part over and over for a decade. The Sprint Filter P08 PM200S is designed to be cleaned rather than consumed: a dry polyester medium that goes back into the standard airbox after an air line and a few minutes.

The line on the invoice nobody reads

An air filter is a small item on a service bill, which is exactly why it is never questioned. Count it across ten years and it stops being small — and each of those elements spent the second half of its life doing the job slightly worse than the first half, because a paper filter loads and cannot be restored. This one returns to its starting restriction every time it is cleaned. That is the real difference: not what it costs once, but that it does not degrade permanently.

What the extra surface does on a 248.8 cc single

A single-cylinder engine draws air in large discrete pulses, and the pressure drop across a filter rises with flow rather than staying constant. Twice the filtering surface means the element works at a smaller fraction of its capacity at any given throttle opening — the practical effect is that the bike keeps the throttle response it had when new, right through the interval instead of only just after a service.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. When more is needed, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame. Refit dry; there is no oil to reapply.
