DescriptionThe whole story▼
The R1200R is the boxer with nothing on it: no fairing, no screen, no pretence. The JP CO BM018 replaces its combined throttle housing and right-hand switch with a milled Ergal body.
Key Features
- BMW R1200R (2014–2018)
- Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
- Integrated right-hand switch block
- No model lettering on the housing
- Black anodised
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
A Roadster Built Around an Engine
Strip the R1200GS of its suspension travel and its bodywork and this is roughly what remains: 125 hp, a low centre of gravity, and an engine that is visible from every angle. The R1200R is the most honest expression of what BMW's boxer actually is, and it has a following that has nothing to do with adventure riding.
Everything on Show
On a naked motorcycle every component is part of the appearance. The moulded switch housing is one of the few parts of the R1200R that looks like it came from a parts bin, which is precisely why it is among the more commonly replaced items on these bikes. A machined body reads as engineering rather than as trim.
Weather With No Protection
There is no screen sending airflow over the hands, so rain arrives at the controls at road speed and stays there. The housing is milled from one piece of Ergal with no moulded seam, and the switch elements inside it are sealed rather than open contacts, which is what decides whether the assembly still feels right after several winters.
Plain, Not Badged
JetPrime offers an RS-lettered version of this housing for the faired variants. On an R1200R the unlettered one is the natural match, and it is what this part number supplies: black anodised Ergal with nothing milled into the flank.
The 2014 Generation Specifically
This fitment covers the liquid-cooled R1200R from its 2014 introduction to the arrival of the 1250. The air-cooled roadster that came before it used an entirely different electrical architecture and is not covered. On a model line with this much history, checking the year is not pedantry.
