DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every motorcycle has one speed at which the mirrors go soft. Riders know theirs without ever having worked out why, and they avoid sitting at it. It is a resonance, it happens at the same place every time, and on a bike with a range as wide as this one it is easy to land on.
Key Features
- Supplied per side — fit a pair or replace one
- Clamp holds its setting under airflow
- Glass positioned to clear the rider's shoulder
- Stem deforms under impact rather than shearing
- CNC-machined aluminium stem, matt black
- European type approval E1*81R00/02*0143
The One Speed Where It Goes
The frequency an arm resonates at is set by its stiffness and by how much mass hangs off the end of it. Shortening the arm and cutting it from solid aluminium moves that frequency up and out of the band the engine spends its working life in, which is how the bad speed disappears rather than merely moving.
A V4 Across the Whole Range
This engine is used from four thousand to well past eleven, so there is no narrow window to design around. The answer has to work everywhere rather than at one cruising speed.
Matt Black, Per Side
Machined stem, shaped head, finished matt. Left and right are separate part numbers.
Road Approval
This mirror carries European type approval E1*81R00/02*0143 under UN Regulation 81. No national entry and no inspection are required; the approval mark is moulded into the housing where an official can read it.
Scope of Delivery
Supplied as a single mirror for the side you choose. Fitting a pair means ordering both variants; replacing one after a knock means ordering only that side.
