DescriptionThe whole story

IN2004Y is the stainless bracket that braces the R9's intake duct. Whichever of the three printed tubes is fitted, it needs something holding it steady, and this is that part.

Key Features

  • Stainless holder for the printed air box inlet tube
  • Works with all three tube lengths, 3DY20064, 3DY20065 and 3DY20066
  • Braces the duct against the machine instead of letting it hang on the airbox joint
  • Spreads clamping load across a printed part rather than concentrating it
  • Ordered separately from the tube

A Duct That Moves Is a Duct That Leaks

Intake ducting fails in an undramatic way. The tube is not damaged and the airbox is not damaged; the joint between them simply works loose over a few sessions, and the engine quietly stops getting the pressure the system was built to deliver. Nobody notices until someone compares data with a bike that is otherwise identical. A braced duct does not move, so the joint stays where it was made — which is the whole reason a separate holder exists rather than the tube simply pushing into the airbox.

Clamp With Care

The holder is metal and the tube is printed. Tighten until the duct is held and stop; there is no benefit past that point and a printed section that has been crushed does not spring back. Anyone tempted to substitute a hose clip against bare material should not — the point of a shaped holder is the contact area.
