DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tuono V4 1100 RR sat below the Factory in Aprilia's range, and the bikes built between 2015 and 2018 have long since left their warranty years behind. Many now belong to a second or third owner, and with that change the servicing often moves from the dealer's workshop to a garage at home. The oil change is usually the first job to make the move. For the Tuono V4 1100 RR of those years, Accossato lists the FP009, an M25x1.5 oil filler cap machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised in eight colours.
Key Features
- Oil filler cap for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR, 2015 to 2018
- M25x1.5 thread, as specified by Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium with an anodised finish
- Colours: black, gold, red, silver, titanium, blue, orange, green
- Suitable for other bikes with a cap of the same size, subject to a check
- Also catalogued for the RSV4 RR and the MV Agusta F4
- No German ABE on file; for use on the track
Construction and Material Quality
Aluminium is where the FP009 begins. Accossato machines it on CNC equipment and then anodises it, the treatment that gives the cap its colour: black, gold, red, silver, titanium, blue, orange or green. For fitting, only the thread counts, and Accossato gives it as M25x1.5, adding that the cap suits the bikes on its application list and can be used on others with a cap of that size. A home mechanic working on a Tuono V4 1100 RR needs to know one more thing. A clean thread and a clean sealing face let the cap run in smoothly by hand, and by hand is how it should always go in.
When the Servicing Moves Home
An oil change on a Tuono V4 1100 RR is a job many owners can learn, provided they plan it instead of improvising. Read the relevant pages of the owner's manual first: they name the oil and the filter and explain how the level is checked afterwards. Gather everything before the bike is touched, from the drain tray and rags to a funnel and a sealable container for the old oil, and work on an engine that has been switched off and allowed to cool. Unscrewing the filler at the start lets air in, so the old oil runs out more freely; park the cap somewhere clean and cover the opening while you are busy underneath. Pour the new oil in stages rather than all at once, give it time to settle and read the level precisely as the manual instructs. Then wipe the thread and seat the FP009 by hand. Record the date and mileage in the service book, so whoever owns this Tuono next can see what was done, and take the old oil to a collection point. Once the engine has run for the first time afterwards, look around the filler and the drain plug for any trace of oil.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the FP009 is named for the Tuono 1100 V4 RR from 2015 to 2018. Its M25x1.5 thread defines it, and Accossato adds that it is adaptable to other motorcycles with the same cap size. Inter-Pace also carries it under the Tuono V4 1100 Factory, the RSV4 RR and the MV Agusta F4. If you are not sure whether your Tuono V4 1100 RR still wears the cap it left the factory with, compare the thread of the one in your engine before ordering.
Road Approval
The FP009 comes without any ABE or test certificate that we could show, so we offer it for motorsport and competition use.
