DescriptionThe whole story▼

Since its arrival for 2018, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 has been one of the bikes to beat in the Supersport 300 class, at world championship level as well as in national and club series, where grids of light twins race wheel to wheel. Racing in such a class means living with its technical rules, and some of those rules reach as far as the fuel in the tank. For the Ninja 400 of 2018 to 2024, Accossato's catalogue has the FC126: aluminium, cut on CNC machines, with a quick-closing pawl whose pin is offered in six colours.

Key Features

  • Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Ninja 400, 2018 to 2024
  • Accossato lists 2018 to 2022 and 2023 to 2024 as separate entries
  • Machined completely from aluminium on CNC equipment
  • Quick-closing pawl for quick fills
  • Pin in green, gold, red, silver, blue or black
  • Pawl sold separately if damaged
  • No German ABE documented; for racing and track days

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the FC126 wholly from aluminium on CNC equipment and describes the cap as robust and durable; the design is new. On the Ninja 400 the quick-closing pawl opens the filler in a moment and closes it again just as quickly, and you choose its pin from six colours. If the pawl is damaged, for example in a crash, Accossato sells it on its own, which keeps a racer's spares bill small.

Fuel Checks After the Race

In classes where the regulations prescribe the fuel, officials may take a sample from the tank after a race and compare it with a reference, and the leading finishers are the most likely to be checked. For a Ninja 400 racer, that has practical consequences. Leave enough fuel in the tank after the chequered flag for a sample to be drawn, rather than running the bike almost dry to save weight; some rules state a minimum. Use only the fuel the series allows, from a clean, labelled can, and never top up with anything else in a hurry. After the race, the bike may go straight into a closed area where nobody may work on it until it is released, so make sure the cap is closed and clean before the start rather than planning to deal with it later. If the officials open the tank, a cap that releases quickly and closes cleanly makes their job simple. Procedures differ between championships, so read your series' technical rules before the season starts.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato splits the Ninja 400 into two entries, 2018 to 2022 and 2023 to 2024, and both name the FC126, so this product runs from 2018 to 2024. We also list the cap for the Ninja 500 and the Ninja 125. Please make sure your bike appears on the application list before ordering.

Road Approval

No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC126, which makes it a part for racing and track days. A Ninja 400 that is still road-registered should wear its standard cap on public roads; that cap normally locks with the ignition key.
