DescriptionThe whole story▼
The day after rain, some trails turn into what riders call hero dirt: moist, tacky soil that grips so well that everyone brakes later and leans further. On a Husqvarna TX 125, a 125 two-stroke enduro, that grip is a gift, because a small bike lives on the speed it carries through corners. It also tempts riders into mistakes, and the first shaded, wetter patch can take the front away. The folding B8283 brake lever, which Accossato lists for the TX 125 of 2017, is machined in Italy from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Husqvarna TX 125, model year 2017
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short blade for three fingers, as Accossato designs it
- Joint that Accossato calls anti-break: the blade can fold forward in a crash
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Black, blue or orange blade on a dark base
- Supplied as a single lever
- No German ABE documented; for off-road and competition
Construction and Material Quality
On the right of the bar the same hand brakes and holds the throttle, so a brake lever for three fingers leaves thumb and little finger wrapped round the twistgrip. That is the layout Accossato gives the B8283. It is CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy of high strength, and the company's stated targets are strength, low weight and reliability. The lever has a dark base that holds the pivot at the master cylinder and a blade in your chosen colour, joined to the base so that it can fold.
Hero Dirt and Late Braking
Good grip changes behaviour. On tacky soil a rider starts braking a few metres later each lap, carries more lean into the turns and uses the front brake harder than on a dry day. On a 125 that instinct is right, since every bit of speed kept through a corner is speed the small engine doesn't have to find again. The TX 125 rewards that style with quick laps and a broad grin, right up to the moment the surface changes.
Hero dirt is rarely uniform. Under trees, in a hollow or where water seeps from a bank, the soil stays wetter and slicker, and a front tyre that had grip a second ago slides when braking into that patch. A low-side follows, usually quick and harmless for the rider, but the bike slides on its right side with the brake lever dragging through the dirt. During that slide the B8283's blade has the option of folding forward on its joint instead of snapping off. It won't work every time; when it does, you pick the TX 125 up, check the brake and ride on, a little more careful about where the shade falls.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the B8283 for the Husqvarna TX 125 of 2017, where it takes over from the original lever on the stock front brake master cylinder. Later TX 125 model years are not on Accossato's list for this lever. The folding clutch lever for the same bike is the C7284, likewise listed for 2017. Both come in black, blue or orange, so the pair can be ordered in one colour.
Road Approval
The B8283 lacks a German ABE. It is intended for off-road riding and competition and is not approved for public roads.
