DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Monster 796 wears its structure on the outside. The trellis frame and the air-cooled two-valve twin with its finned cylinders are on display, and little is hidden behind panels. Accossato's LV010 folding clutch lever suits that openness, especially in its RST version with a lightening cut-out through the blade. It fits the original clutch master cylinder of the Monster 796 from 2011 to 2015, its distance to the grip can be adjusted, and its blade is hinged to a black base.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Monster 796, 2011 to 2015
- Replaces the lever on the original clutch master cylinder
- RST blade with lightening cut-out, or solid NRST blade
- Blade hinged to the base, can fold if struck
- Adjustable reach
- Black base; blade in black, blue, gold, green, orange, red or silver
- Machined from aluminium, anodised
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the LV010 from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises both of its parts. The base, always black, sits at the pivot and holds the reach adjuster. The blade is joined to it by a hinge and takes one of seven colours. The company is based in Villastellone near Turin, in a plant equipped for CNC machining and fitted with forging presses. On this lever, the decision that shapes its appearance most is whether the blade has the RST cut-out.
Open Frame, Open Blade
The RST option is the most visible choice you make when ordering this lever. Accossato machines an opening into the blade, which it calls a lightening eyelet, and the result is a lever through which you can see daylight. On many bikes that is a detail. On a Monster 796, where the frame tubes and cylinder fins show how the machine is built, it fits the design language of the whole bike.
Be realistic about the weight: the cut-out removes a small amount of aluminium, and you will not feel the difference when riding. The reasons to choose RST are mainly visual; the reasons to choose NRST are a plainer surface and one less opening for dirt to collect in. Either way the blade hangs on the same hinge, so it can fold if the Monster 796 tips over onto its left side, which is the side it leans towards on its stand. Paired with the LV011 on the brake side, the cut-out appears at both ends of the bar.
Fitment and Compatibility
The LV010 covers the Monster 796 from 2011 to 2015 according to Accossato, and the entries behind that range include the 2013 Anniversary edition and several Thai-built versions. It replaces the original clutch lever. The LV011 is the folding lever for the brake side of the same bike, while Accossato's fixed ESD022 clutch lever is listed for the Monster 796 from 2010 to 2015.
