DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XT1200Z Super Ténéré carries a name from Yamaha's desert past, the Ténéré bikes of the Paris–Dakar era, and many owners take it at its word: long journeys, unmade roads and dust that gets into everything. On a bike used like that, simplicity in the controls is a virtue. Accossato's EDF016 keeps it simple: a one-piece brake lever machined from aluminium for the original front master cylinder of the XT1200Z Super Ténéré, listed from 2010 to 2020, with an adjustable distance to the grip.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the XT1200Z Super Ténéré, listed 2010 to 2020
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Rigid one-piece blade, no folding joint to collect dirt
- Reach adjustable to the grip
- Long blade in blue, gold, green and orange; standard about 138 mm
- Short blade in five colours for two-finger braking
- Anodised aluminium with a black hub
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato knows off-road riding from its own history: the company won an enduro world title in 1985. The EDF016 is cut from aluminium on CNC machines and anodised afterwards. Anodising seals the surface, so the lever resists corrosion when it is splashed at a river crossing or coated in fine sand. The hub is black and holds the pivot and the adjuster; the blade takes the colour you choose and runs as one fixed piece to the tip.
Dust, Sand and a Lever Without a Hinge
Every joint on a motorcycle is a place where dirt can settle, and fine dust from a dry track is the most persistent kind. A fixed lever such as the EDF016 has only one moving point, its pivot at the master cylinder; there is no second hinge along the blade that could fill with grit, stiffen or develop play over a long trip. After a dusty day on the Super Ténéré, a rinse with clean water and a check that the lever returns freely are all the attention it needs. On loose ground, many riders prefer the short blade, used with one or two fingers so the rest of the hand keeps a firm hold on the bar when the front wheel is deflected. On tarmac with luggage and a passenger, the long blade gives a comfortable whole-hand stop. The reach adjuster lets you set either for the gloves you wear on the trip.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the EDF016 for two Super Ténéré entries: XT 1200 Z Super Ténéré for 2010 to 2019 and XT 1200 for 2012 to 2020, which together make 2010 to 2020. The lever replaces the stock blade on the original front master cylinder. For the clutch side there are two Accossato levers, the ESC777 for 2012 to 2020 and the ESY688 for 2017 to 2019; if your bike falls into the years where both appear, compare your original clutch lever with the photos.
Road Approval
Track use only: Accossato has no German ABE documented for the EDF016.
