DescriptionThe whole story

A naked bike has nothing behind the rider, so a hard stop puts the whole ZZR1400 ABS on the front tyre. ZCOO cuts the N006 at 38.0 by 49.5 mm to fill the Nissin caliper window of the ZZR1400 ABS. The compound is EX Race, which on the Kawasaki ZZR1400 ABS builds force with the lever instead of ahead of it.

Key Features

  • The Nissin caliper spreads under peak pressure; the N006 plate is cut stiff enough to keep the friction face flat while it does
  • No proprietary tooling needed: the N006 drops into the Nissin caliper the ZZR1400 ABS already has
  • Holds its friction level through the heat cycles a ZZR1400 ABS front end goes through in a single hard ride
  • Fits the Nissin caliper the Kawasaki ZZR1400 ABS left the factory with - no aftermarket caliper required
  • Quiet in normal use and low on dust, so the ZZR1400 ABS does not pay for its brakes in wheel cleaning
  • Laser-cut backing plate holds the friction face flat when the Nissin caliper spreads under peak line pressure

Construction and Material Quality

Look behind the friction face of the N006 and the engineering is all about stiffness. On a face of 38.0 by 49.5 mm even a small amount of plate flex changes where the pressure lands. On the ZZR1400 ABS that translates into a lever position which does not creep as the pad thins.

Performance and Feel

The useful measure of a ZZR1400 ABS pad is not one hard stop but a hundred ordinary ones. Across 9 model years of the ZZR1400 ABS the behaviour is the same, because the compound is. On an unfaired machine like the Kawasaki ZZR1400 ABS that is a control argument, not a comfort one.

Fitment and Compatibility

ZCOO catalogues the N006 for the ZZR1400 ABS of 2007 to 2015. The same N006 shape covers 1 further machines in the 2026 catalogue. Front axle only. Before ordering, check that your caliper takes a pad of 38.0 mm length and 49.5 mm height.

Road Approval

No ECE R90 type approval is documented for this pad. It appears neither in ZCOO's own catalogue nor on the European distributor's site, and no approval number is printed on the packaging data available to us. ZCOO itself describes the compound as suited to competition machines and road machines alike, but that is a description of the mixture, not a type approval. Until the distributor confirms an approval in writing, treat this as a track and competition part: in Germany a replacement brake pad without ECE R90 approval may not be fitted to a motorcycle used on public roads. Ask us before ordering if you need this clarified for your machine.
