DescriptionThe whole story▼

Part number FFX 2201 is what Öhlins supplies for the GasGas MC 125, model years 2021–2026. A fork that dives unevenly under braking makes the MC 125 feel vague long before grip runs out.

Key Features

  • Built for the GasGas MC 125 (2021–2026); fits without modification
  • Fitted spring: Öhlins 02428-47
  • 297 mm of damper stroke
  • Fitted spring rate 4,7 N/mm, chosen by Öhlins for the MC 125

The MC 125 in Particular

The 125 cc engine sets how quickly weight transfers, and damping has to be matched to that rather than to a class average. Öhlins covers the 6-year production run of this generation with a single part number, which means the mounting and the linkage stayed unchanged across it. A motocross track punishes suspension in a way nothing else does: repeated identical hits at the same speed, lap after lap.

Materials and Manufacture

The two legs are built as a matched pair and tested as one assembly. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against. Tube diameter, offset and axle clamp are all specified per model so the assembly drops into the standard yokes.

Damping and Adjustment

Eye-to-eye length is 950 mm, fixed for this application. 297 mm of stroke is what the MC 125's linkage allows, and the shim stack is set for exactly that. Öhlins fits a 4,7 N/mm spring to this number; riders far from average weight should expect to change it. Spring part number 02428-47 is a separate catalogue item, so a rate change is inexpensive. Each function has its own adjuster, which is what allows one change to be judged honestly. The range is wide enough that both ends of it are usable rather than theoretical.

About the RXF 48 S Range

Compression and rebound are adjusted separately at the fork tops, in clicks rather than by feel. The RXF 48 is Öhlins' motocross and enduro fork, and the S version adds the spring conversion — a coil spring in place of the air system many current forks use. Öhlins supplies the RXF 48 S with springs matched to the machine, and alternative rates are catalogue items.

Fitment and Compatibility

Öhlins releases FFX 2201 against the GasGas MC 125 (2021–2026). The number is shared with 33 sibling models that use the same mounting and settings, and this listing covers the GasGas MC 125. Öhlins notes for this application: 08765- spring series *Replaces FFX 1201*

Road Approval

Road approval: not documented by Öhlins for the GasGas MC 125. We do not state an approval we cannot evidence — please confirm the current status with us before ordering if you intend to use the motorcycle on public roads.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins suspension rewards careful fitting. We recommend having the work done by an authorised Öhlins service centre — and we are one ourselves: we fit, service and set up Öhlins components in house. If you would like us to handle the installation, just ask and we will quote it with the order.
