The 636 is the supersport that never quite followed the rules. The JP PD KA044 replaces the ZX-6R's right-hand switch with milled Ergal on a universal clamp pattern.

Six Hundred and Thirty-Six
Kawasaki has built its middleweight at 636 cc rather than 600 for most of two decades, which puts it outside supersport homologation in some series and makes it considerably more pleasant on the road. It is a commercial decision that turned into the model's defining characteristic.
The Class Survivor
While Honda, Suzuki and Triumph withdrew from the middleweight sportbike market in Europe, Kawasaki kept the ZX-6R on sale and updated it for Euro 5 in 2024. For several years it was effectively the only new supersport machine available, which is a strange kind of victory.
Where the Cluster Is Worked
Starter, kill switch and the power mode selection. On a bike that does track days and commuting in roughly equal measure, those buttons see high cycle counts in both settings and the moulded original softens gradually rather than failing outright.
Universal Clamp Pattern
Brake upgrades on a tracked 636 are close to routine, and the clamp geometry of an aftermarket radial cylinder rarely matches Kawasaki's. The universal plate accepts both, so the switch is not the thing that has to be reconsidered afterwards.
Two Finishes
Black and titanium on this part number. Both are anodised through the surface, so a low-speed slide dulls the component rather than exposing bright metal underneath.
An Eight-Year Fitment
The span runs from the 2019 revision through the 2024 Euro 5 update to the current bike. Kawasaki changed the bodywork, the electronics and the emissions equipment across that period and left the handlebar interface alone, which is why one part covers all of it.
