DescriptionThe whole story▼

BMW built the F 800 GS Adventure for journeys measured in weeks rather than hours, with a bigger tank and a more generous screen than the standard GS, and such journeys often end the day at a campsite. Campsites are where side stands meet their least reliable ground: grass softened by rain, sand, or gravel over loose earth. Overnight, a loaded bike can sink slowly until it leans past the point of no return, and in the morning it lies on its side with a bent lever. For the F 800 GS Adventure of 2013 to 2018, Accossato lists the AGD306, a black replacement brake lever in original form.

Key Features

  • Brake lever of the original type for the BMW F 800 GS Adventure
  • Accossato's listing: 2013 to 2018, ABS versions
  • Black
  • Front brake lever, right side of the handlebar
  • Developed by Accossato for good value for money
  • Better resistance after damage or a fall thanks to the way it is made, according to Accossato
  • One lever supplied
  • No German ABE or test mark; for racing and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The AGD306 is a replacement in the original style, made to take the place of a damaged standard lever on the F 800 GS Adventure without altering how the bike looks. Accossato's priority in developing it was value for money. The manufacturer also states that its production method gives the lever increased resistance after damage or an accident, and it presents that as the main technical point. The colour is black, as Accossato lists it. Beyond these statements we have no technical information from Accossato, and therefore give none.

Soft Ground Under the Side Stand

The trick is to spread the load before the stand sinks. Experienced travellers carry a small flat plate, or use a flattened drinks can, to put under the foot of the side stand, and on doubtful ground they look for a spot that is level or slopes gently towards the stand side. Luggage makes the problem worse, because a fully packed F 800 GS Adventure presses harder on that small foot. Leave the bike in gear so it cannot roll, and look at it once more before you turn in for the night, particularly if rain is forecast. If it has fallen anyway, lift it with your legs rather than your back and inspect the right side before riding: brake lever, mirror, indicator, footpeg. A lever that is bent should be replaced, since bending it back risks a crack that you will not see until it matters.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato gives the AGD306 for the F 800 GS Adventure in two ABS periods, 2013 to 2016 and 2016 to 2018, which together cover 2013 to 2018. There is no second replacement brake lever on the list for this bike, so the choice is simple, and the black AGS299 is the matching clutch lever for the same years. At Inter-Pace, the AGD306 is also listed for the standard F 800 GS and the F 800 GT, and the CNC levers EDB001 and ESB008 are the alternative for riders looking for a tuning part.

Road Approval

We have not received any test or approval documents for the AGD306, so there is no German ABE and no test mark we could point to. The lever is therefore listed for racing and competition use.
