DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many owners, the Aprilia RS 457 is the bike on which they ride a circuit for the first time. Aprilia's small twin-cylinder sports bike arrived for 2024 with styling taken from its bigger RS siblings and an engine that suits the A2 licence, so plenty of its riders come to it with little experience of fairings and clip-ons. A first track day raises lots of small questions, and one of them is how to refuel in the paddock. For the RS 457, Accossato makes the FC101, a quick-release filler cap machined from aluminium, with its pawl in a choice of six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Aprilia RS 457, model year 2024 with ABS
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium, robust and durable according to Accossato
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank quickly
- Pawl (pin) in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Replacement pawl sold separately in case of damage
- New design from Accossato
- Fit to be confirmed against Accossato's application list
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the FC101 completely from aluminium, cut on CNC machines, and calls the finished cap robust and durable. The shape is a new design of its own. What your hand actually meets is the quick-closing pawl, which opens the RS 457's tank in a moment and shuts it again just as fast. That pawl, listed as the pin in the colour options, is where the colour comes in: blue, green, black, red, silver or gold, chosen when you order. If it is ever damaged, Accossato sells it on its own and the rest of the cap stays in service.
Saturday Morning in the Novice Group
Track day organisers split riders into groups by pace, and a newcomer on an RS 457 usually starts with the novices. The day begins early with signing on, followed by a technical check in which someone from the organiser looks each bike over for loose parts, leaks and untaped lights. After the briefing on flags and pit-lane rules, the first sessions are often ridden behind an instructor, with time in between to talk through lines and drink plenty of water. Fuel is easy to forget in all this. A day of laps uses more than most riders expect, and by early afternoon many bikes need a top-up from a can in the paddock. With the engine off and the RS 457 on its stand, the FC101 opens with its pawl, the fuel goes in and the cap closes again. Take a second to confirm that it is properly shut before you roll back towards the pit lane.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's application list the FC101 is given for the RS 457 of 2024 with ABS, and that is the only model year the list shows for this bike. If yours is a later RS 457, check the list again before ordering or ask us. The same cap is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the RS 660 and the Tuono 660, and also for the KTM 690 Duke.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC101, so we supply it for circuit use. The RS 457 comes with a filler cap that normally locks with the ignition key; for riding on public roads, that original cap should stay on.
Scope of Delivery
One Accossato FC101 fuel tank cap with the pawl in the colour you pick. Replacement pawls are sold separately.
