DescriptionThe whole story▼

Honda built the VT1300CX Fury to look like a custom chopper finished in a small workshop rather than on a production line: a long, raked fork, a stretched frame, a low saddle and a V-twin that drives the rear wheel through a shaft. Everything about its shape draws the eye forward, and the riding position sends the hands forward as well. The Accossato EDF018 replaces the original front brake lever at the end of that reach with a machined aluminium lever whose distance from the grip you set yourself. Accossato lists it for the Fury from 2009 to 2018.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Honda VT1300CX Fury, 2009 to 2018
  • Mounts on the original Honda master cylinder
  • Reach to the grip adjustable close to the pivot
  • Standard blade of approximately 138 mm, short and long versions in selected colours
  • Cut from aluminium on CNC machines, then anodised
  • Black hub; blade in black, silver, red, blue, gold, orange or green
  • Rigid blade without a folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

The shape of the EDF018 comes from a cutter, not from a mould. Accossato machines the lever from aluminium on CNC equipment, which keeps the section of the blade even along its whole length and leaves crisp, defined edges where the fingers wrap around it. Anodising follows, in two tones. The hub, which carries the pivot bore and the reach adjuster, is black on every version and sits calmly beside the switch housing of the Fury, while the blade takes whichever of the seven colours you order. Nothing along the blade is hinged: from hub to tip it is one fixed piece.

Long, Low and Using Both Brakes

Physics treats a chopper differently from a sports bike. The longer and lower a motorcycle is, the less of its weight moves onto the front wheel when it slows down, so on a Fury the rear brake contributes a larger share than it would on a short, tall machine. The front still does most of the stopping, though, and the sound habit on a long cruiser is to use both together, pedal and lever applied at the same moment and built up smoothly with the bike upright. That habit only sticks if the lever is easy to find. From the low seat of the Fury the arms reach well forward, and a blade standing far from the grip makes the fingers stretch before they can do anything useful. Adjusted so that it rests under the first finger joints, the EDF018 is ready as soon as the right foot moves to the pedal.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF018 for the Fury from 2009 to 2018. Its catalogue writes the model as VTX 1300 CX; the motorcycle meant is the VT1300CX Fury, not the separate VTX1300 cruisers Honda sold before it. The lever takes the place of the stock blade on the original master cylinder. For the left side of the bar, the matching Accossato clutch lever is the ESH626, listed for the same years.

Road Approval

For this brake lever there is no documented German ABE, so we sell it for use on the track.
