This page exists because Sprint Filter offers its racing polyester for every housing it makes an element for, not because a small road machine was ever short of air. The ZT 125-G1 is the least demanding of the six machines built around this airbox, and the standard element they all share was drawn around the largest of them. Fitting the SM276S F1-85 here adds supply where nothing was in short supply, and that is worth saying before the specification rather than after it.
Key Features
- Racing specification: dry polyester rated at 85 µm with a published flow of 15,000 l/m²/sec
- The most open medium catalogued for this case and the highest flow figure in the range
- Retention measured at 95.22 % on 100-micron particles, against 93.13 % for the standard weave
- The same fit as every other element for this housing: series airbox, no cutting, no adaptor, no remap
- Dry from manufacture, blown clean and refitted rather than discarded, with no oil at any stage
- Specified for the working life of the machine; two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Reserve stacked on reserve
The standard element in this case already carries roughly double the filtering area of an ordinary performance filter, and it was specified so that the 200 at the top of the fitment list would be properly served. A 125 cannot spend that. Going from 5,050 to 15,000 l/m²/sec adds capacity above a ceiling this engine was never reaching, and a rated flow is a supply figure: it does nothing at all unless the demand side of the engine has been raised to meet it, which on a standard machine it has not been.
The honest recommendation
On a 125 or a 155 this specification is very hard to justify, and the plain code is the better order. Output here is fixed by the A1 type approval rather than by the airbox, no drop-in element makes a production motorcycle noticeably faster, and if the reason for opening the case is dusty air then the catalogue answers that at the other end of the range with a 14 micron medium rather than with a wider weave. The standard element is not a lesser part. It is the one drawn for road and track use, which is what this machine actually does.
Care and cleaning
Cleaning is a two-stage business and the first stage usually suffices: compressed air against the clean face, driving the load back out the way it came. When a deposit is greasy rather than dry, lukewarm water with a mild detergent will shift it, and rinsing continues until the water runs clear. The element then dries in moving air at room temperature, never with a heat source of any kind, and the SM276S F1-85 is refitted dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Catalogued for the Zontes ZT 125-G1, 2020 to 2026. Six machines of 125, 155 and 200 cm³ are built around this airbox and all six take the same code, in whichever medium is chosen. Confirm the year from your registration document before ordering.
