Three badges, one part number. CM136S is listed for the Brixton Crossfire/X, for the Gaokin Flame, and for the Honda CBR500R and CB500F built between 2013 and 2018 — machines sold in different markets under different names, built around one intake housing. Worth knowing before shopping by brand: what decides which element fits is the airbox, and the badge on the tank sits downstream of it.
Key Features
- Woven polyester filtering at 80 microns, rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec
- 93.13 % of 100-micron particles retained — a measured figure, not an estimate
- Supplied dry and refitted dry: no oiling, ever, and no oil to migrate downstream
- Direct fit in the standard Crossfire/X airbox, nothing cut and nothing remapped
- Around twice the filtering surface of a conventional flat element
- Cleaned and put back instead of thrown away, with two years of warranty from purchase
The airbox is the product
A shared code is not a marketing accident. An air filter is dimensioned to the housing it seals against, and when three manufacturers build around one intake, one element serves all three. The Honda window closed in 2018; the Brixton and the Gaokin have carried the design since 2017. What that changes is how the catalogue should be read: the row that names your machine and its build years is the one to order, and a machine that shares this code shares the housing and nothing else.
What a dry weave changes over a service life
The medium here is a woven polyester screen, filtering by aperture rather than by a film of oil, and it stays dry from the box to the airbox and back again after every wash. Nothing is applied, so nothing can be over-applied, and nothing travels downstream onto an intake sensor. Against a four-layer oiled cotton element measured on the same 100-micron test, which returns 76.42 %, the 93.13 % of this weave is the more selective number, and it reads the same after the second cleaning as after the first. None of this is power: in an unmodified airbox the CM136S leaves a standard Crossfire/X exactly as strong as it was. What it offers is a lower and, across service intervals, steadier intake restriction, and a part that is serviced rather than consumed.
Care and cleaning
Compressed air is the routine service for the CM136S, held against the clean face and worked outwards so the load leaves the way it came in. After a dusty season, lukewarm water with a mild detergent releases what air will not; rinse until the runoff is clear. Drying happens in moving air at room temperature and by no other means — heat guns, radiators and open flame damage the weave before anything looks wrong. It goes back in dry, with nothing sprayed on it. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Brixton Crossfire/X of 2017–2026 and seated in the series airbox without modification. This code covers three machines in total, the Crossfire/X together with the Gaokin Flame and the 2013–2018 Honda CBR500R and CB500F. Check your build year in the Fitment tab before ordering.
