About this tint
TE50 takes the edge off bright daylight without the mirror look of the iridium screens. For a commute on a summer morning, a pass road in the afternoon or a coast road with the sea glinting beside it, that is often all that is needed. Your eyes stay visible from outside, which some riders prefer in town traffic.
Shark gives no light transmission figure in the Range Book beyond the name TE50, so we do not either. What the tint cannot do is help once the light drops.
Road or track
Shark approves TE50 for the road with a restriction: the Range Book 2027, page 39, reads approved day use only. After sunset, in tunnels or in heavy overcast the clear version on the same number, VZ36015PINCTU, is the one Shark approves for all users. A lot of riders carry that clear screen in the helmet bag for the ride home.
What this part fits
Made for the Shark RS Jet. The fitment is taken from Shark's own list of visors compatible with the RS Jet on shark-helmets.com. Shark lists no other helmet for VZ36015P.
Care
A light tint shows water spots and streaks more than a clear screen does. Rinse, soften insect remains under a wet cloth, then dry with a clean microfibre. The anti-scratch treatment deals with that, but not with solvents or glass sprays, and not with a dusty glove sleeve used as a wiper at the lights.
When to replace it
Replace it when scratches start to flare in low sun, when the screen no longer stays where you put it, when a side lock stops holding, or after any crack or chip. Because TE50 is a daylight visor, evening glare through scratches is less of a problem than with a clear one, but a damaged screen in bright sun still scatters light into your eyes.
Fitting it yourself
Raise the fitted visor, open the side locks and take it off. Offer the TE50 screen to the four anchoring points, press until both sides click, and test that it moves freely and holds in any position. Transfer a Pinlock or fit VZ36005P and set the tension. EAN 3664836766751, 186 g, customs code 3926906000.
