The Final Version
Ducati built this one for two model years and then abandoned the model. Nothing in the current range does what it did, which is why the survivors change hands quickly and quietly.
One Component
The switches live inside the throttle housing. Ducati sells no smaller part, so the complete assembly is the unit of replacement whichever direction an owner goes.
Three Anodised Options
Black, red and titanium, grown into the aluminium electrochemically rather than sprayed onto it. It is more choice than most part numbers in the range offer.
Cornering ABS as Standard
The 939 generation gained a Bosch inertial platform with lean-sensitive braking. On a touring bike meeting unfamiliar roads that is worth considerably more than it is on a circuit machine.
A Bore That Stays True
Cut on a machine rather than formed in a tool. Across the mileage a touring motorcycle accumulates, that is the difference between a throttle that still feels new and one that does not.
Enclosed Contacts
Sealed within the body rather than behind a clipped lid. Clips lose tension over years of vibration and a solid body has none to lose in the first place.
Sixteen Litres
A considerably larger tank than the Hypermotard's. On a motorcycle intended for actual journeys that is the difference between stopping hourly and stopping twice a day.
Ergal 7075
Roughly twice the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a loaded bike the handlebar carries a great deal more than it appears to when it topples.
Factory Connector
Nothing spliced, nothing coded. Two fasteners and a plug, and the harness stays exactly as it left the factory.
