The Limited Specification
Öhlins suspension front and rear, forged aluminium wheels and a specific livery. Aprilia produced the RF in limited annual numbers as the higher-specification RSV4, and it is the version most likely now to be found on a circuit.
Forged Wheels
The RF's rims take a substantial amount of rotating mass out of the motorcycle, which changes how quickly it changes direction more than any suspension setting does. It is the single most effective component on the specification list.
One Assembly, Two Functions
The right-hand controls sit inside the throttle housing on every RSV4 of this generation. Replacing either means replacing both, which this unit does from a single billet using Aprilia's own connector.
APRC in Use
Traction, wheelie and launch control are adjusted from the handlebar while moving, which is unusual and genuinely useful on a circuit as the rear tyre goes off over a session. Those controls sit in the housing being replaced.
Machined Where the Sensor Is
The throttle position sensor reads the tube's rotation. A bore that is cut rather than cast holds its tolerance longer, and on an RF being ridden at the limit that precision is felt at small openings.
Four Anodised Finishes
Black, red, blue and titanium. Against the RF's specific livery, black is generally the choice that keeps the cockpit quiet while titanium picks up the Öhlins fork tops without matching them.
Sealed Construction
Sealed elements inside a one-piece milled body. On a bike washed hot after every track session, the absence of a moulded joint is what keeps the water outside where it belongs.
