Staggered Holes
The offset pattern matches one of the two clamp arrangements in use on these motorcycles. The aligned version covers the other, and it is worth thirty seconds on the bar to establish which.
Ninety-Five Horsepower and Wide Bars
Aprilia retuned the RS 660's twin toward the midrange, raised the bars and removed the fairing. The result is easier to ride quickly on a real road than the faired version and gives up almost nothing.
Specified Above the Class
Cornering ABS, adjustable engine braking, cruise control and a six-axis platform on a middleweight naked. Several manufacturers have since copied the idea, which is the clearest verdict available.
The Weather Reaches the Bar
Nothing on a Tuono 660 deflects anything. Rain and road spray arrive at the block directly and stay there, which is exactly what a one-piece machined housing is built against.
Black Anodised
Converted into the metal. On a naked bike the cockpit is on show from outside as well as from the saddle, and a dulled anodised surface looks better than chipped paint.
Cut From Solid
One block of Ergal 7075 with sealed elements inside. There is no clipped cover, so there is nothing to lose tension and nothing for water to work past.
Used Constantly
This is a motorcycle ridden to work and to places, which means the indicator and mode controls see more operations in a month than a track bike's do in a season.
Aprilia's Plug
Pre-wired to the original connector, so nothing is spliced or extended. Two fasteners, one plug, done.
Aprilia's Own Championship
The company built a one-make racing series around the 660 platform, which put a large number of near-standard machines onto circuits with riders who had never modified a motorcycle before. Most of them started with the controls, because that is where the bike first tells you it was built to a price somewhere.
