Brembo Stylema
The current generation caliper on a middleweight naked, which was close to unheard of when Triumph fitted it.
A Track Mode That Means It
The RS carries a genuine circuit setting with reduced intervention and a lap timer. Triumph expected these bikes to be used and specified accordingly.
A Short Service Life
Compared with almost anything else electrical on the motorcycle, the sidestand switch is a consumable. High-mileage bikes have usually had one replaced.
Or the Stand Gets Bent
On a loaded touring bike it happens, and a replacement is not always available quickly. Removing the assembly is sometimes the practical answer rather than the sporting one.
Refit Before Selling
A buyer expects the safety systems to work as described, and putting the standard switch back is a five-minute job that avoids the conversation.
What the Manual Does Not Cover
Triumph documents the switch as a replaceable part and says nothing about what happens when the stand is removed entirely. The answer is that the engine stops in gear, which is exactly what the system is supposed to do.
Pressure Washing Is the Enemy
A lance aimed at the swingarm pivot drives water directly into the connector, and the corrosion that follows takes a season to show itself. It is the single most common cause of premature failure on any bike of any marque.
The Complete Diagnosis
Before ordering anything, check whether the stand is straight, whether the switch is packed with mud and whether the connector is corroded. Any one of those produces the symptoms, and two of them are free to fix. Only when the switch itself has failed or the stand has gone does an eliminator become the right answer.
