The JP ACC AP009 is the short-stroke throttle for the Shiver 900: same opening, same electronics, considerably less distance for the hand to cover on the way there.

A Naked Bike That Grew
Aprilia stretched the Shiver's twin to 896 cc and left the upright bars and the wide tank alone. It was one of the earliest production motorcycles to read its throttle electronically.
A Track Argument First
The case is strongest where the throttle is opened and closed hard and often. On a long motorway run the shorter sweep is simply a different habit.
The Return Spring
It has to close the throttle reliably every time, which is why the spring rate is chosen with the shorter travel rather than carried over from the original.
The Anodised Finish
Converted into the surface rather than painted onto it, which is why the assembly still looks the same after a season of cleaning products.
What Actually Wears Out
The standard tube runs in a moulded bore and the pair slowly develop play. It is a slow failure and most owners never identify it as one.
The Sensor Is Not Replaced
On most models the motorcycle's own position sensor carries over into the new body. That is what keeps the electrical side a plug rather than a project.
Hand Position and Lever Reach
A shorter throttle sweep changes where the fingers sit relative to the brake lever at full opening. Adjusting the span afterwards is usually worth five minutes.
The Rider Aids Do Not Notice
Traction control reads wheel speeds and lean angle. Wheelie control reads the same. Engine braking, the quickshifter and the modes all work through inputs unrelated to grip travel. The controller receives an angle exactly as before and every strategy built on it continues unchanged.
At a Circuit
Nothing here troubles a technical inspection. The assembly looks standard, sits where the standard one sat and operates the way a throttle is expected to operate. The only paperwork it generates is the invoice.
