Showa Separate Function Forks

Original Fastener Positions
The cover picks up the threads the housing used, at the figures Kawasaki specifies for them. No hole is opened out and no thread in the head is touched.
Nothing Consumed
No gasket is destroyed and no fastener stretched. Everything removed goes back exactly as it came off whenever it needs to.
An Inspection Would Find Nothing
Original fasteners, original torque and an unmarked head face. The exchange leaves no evidence beyond the cover itself.
No Change to Cooling
The housing sits on an external face and carries no coolant. Removing it affects nothing thermal about the cylinder head at all.
Why the Housing Fails
It is a moulding bolted to a cylinder head, living through the widest temperature range on the motorcycle several times a day. The reeds flex on every closed throttle and eventually one cracks.
An Evening Either Way
Whether fitted alone or alongside the electrical half, the access is identical. Doing both at once is simply better value for the same effort.
The Last Supersport Standing
Almost every rival has abandoned the class and Kawasaki has kept the ZX-6R certifiable through successive emissions rounds. That effort is precisely why the motorcycle carries as much emissions hardware as it does, and why owners removing it are removing something hard won.
