The system forms part of the motorcycle's type approval where it is fitted, and its removal moves the machine into competition use in those markets.

Two Sealing Faces
The head is machined where the housing sits, so an O-ring is sufficient and nothing needs jointing compound anywhere.
The Panel Argument
A stored fault mask other faults behind it, which is the practical reason not to leave a solenoid simply unplugged.
O-Ring, Not Compound
The mechanical half seals on a rubber ring in a turned groove, which separates cleanly years later instead of bonding to the head.
The Part Nobody Mentions
Removing the housing leaves the hose port open at the airbox, and closing that is not optional. Unfiltered air entering an intake is a considerably worse outcome than the emissions system ever was.
Cold Engine, Correct Torque
Aluminium threads in a warm cylinder head strip more easily than most people expect, and the specified figure for the head fasteners is low. Waiting for the engine to cool and looking the number up once is the entire difference between a short evening and a thread repair.
Clearing the History
The kit stops new faults being logged; it does not erase what is already in the memory. A diagnostic tool clears it in seconds, and doing that at the end leaves a record that says what actually happened rather than one with an old warning sitting in it.
