The Street Twin, Renamed
Triumph reorganised the modern classic range in 2023 and the Street Twin became the Speed Twin 900. The motorcycle underneath barely changed.
Sixty-Five Horsepower
From the 900 twin, which is modest on paper and entirely sufficient in practice. These are not motorcycles bought for a power figure.
An Emulator Rather Than a Bridge
This part answers with the value the self-test expects. Shorting the terminals answers with a different wrong value and earns a different warning.
A Three-Cylinder Header
Triple exhausts collect three pulses into one pipe, and residue burning in that volume is louder than it would be in a twin. It is part of why Triumph owners notice this.
Heat Cycles, Not Mileage
The reeds sit at cylinder head temperature and flex on every closed throttle. They fail with age rather than with distance covered, which surprises owners of low-mileage bikes.
The Parts Go in a Box
The valve, its connector and any clips removed take up almost no space and are the entire cost of being able to put the motorcycle back to standard before an inspection or a sale.
What Happens on a Cold Morning
The system is most active during warm-up, which is when the crackle is loudest and when a failing solenoid is most likely to be caught by the self-test.
Storage Under the Tank
The eliminator needs to sit somewhere it cannot chafe or trap, which usually means a cable tie to an existing loom run. Left loose it will find something to rub against, as any dangling component will.
A Tidier Loom
With both halves fitted the hose above the engine comes out, and what is left under the tank is noticeably easier to work around.
