The JP KS AP009 replaces the RSV4's ignition block with a sealed push button, which takes the lock, the key and about three hundred and fifty grams off the top yoke.

Aprilia's V4 has won more World Superbike championships than anything else built in Italy this century. A great many privately owned examples never see a public road, which is the population this part exists for.
What Comes Off
The ignition barrel, its bracket and the key that goes with it. On a machine that never leaves a circuit none of the three does anything useful.
What the Original Block Is
A lock barrel, a switch pack and on modern bikes an immobiliser aerial, all in one casting bolted through the top yoke.
How the Engine Is Killed
The button breaks the ignition circuit exactly as turning the key to off did. Nothing about the way the engine stops changes.
Why a Lock Exists at All
It stops the wrong person riding away and it satisfies the registration rules. Both purposes disappear the moment a motorcycle stops being used on roads.

Machines that live between a van and a garage, are started by whoever is nearest and never spend a night in a street. That is the whole market for this.
The Ignition Block Is Three Things
A lock, a switch and on newer machines an immobiliser aerial. Racing removes the reason for the first and the third, and this part covers the second.

The lights come off, the mirrors come off and the number plate bracket follows. The ignition lock is on the same list and it is the one people leave until last.

Club racers, track-day regulars and owners building a machine that will never carry a number plate again. It is a narrow market and an honest one.
The Immobiliser, Before Anything Else
If the key carries a chip, the aerial around the barrel belongs to the starting circuit and the engine will not run without it. Race looms and standalone controllers usually settle that already. On a standard bike it is the one thing that can stop this job.
