The Volume Model
More Street Twins were sold than any other modern classic, which means more of them are now second-hand, more are being maintained on a budget, and more are being customised. All three of those situations end at the same question: what is that black plastic box and does it need to be there.
Custom Builds Start Here
The Street Twin is the usual starting point for Triumph-based builds — shorter seat units, exposed frame loops, bar-end everything. The canister and its hoses sit where a shortened tail wants to be, which is why this comes up so consistently on this model.
Two Generations
Triumph revised the Street Twin for Euro 5 in 2021 and later renamed it Speed Twin 900. The evaporative arrangement changed at the 2021 point. Three names, two part numbers — the registration year is what settles it.
