DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Accossato Ready To Brake 14x18 takes the smallest piston in the Ready To Brake range, 14 mm, suggested for scooters, and gives it a pivot distance Accossato rates for track use and also recommends for the street. The result is a light, easily managed front brake for smaller-displacement machines that still benefits from the shark-shaped body, integrated micro-switch and seven-colour folding lever the rest of the range uses. It is sold as a universal fit rather than against a specific vehicle list.
Key Features
- 14 mm piston diameter, suggested for scooters and lighter motorcycles
- 18 mm lever pivot distance, for track use and also recommended for street riding
- Folding lever, long version, with relieving eyelet (RST), available in seven colours
- Integrated micro-switch for the brake light, built into the unit
- Offset fixing riser with a quick-release jumper to speed up servicing
- Shark-shaped body that gives the master cylinder its distinct profile
- Stainless steel mounting screws and a zinc-plated bleed valve
- Seals manufactured from Formula 1 compound material
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato starts with a block of aluminium, works it on CNC machines at its Italian plant, and finishes the surface with a natural anodised coat. The screws are stainless, the bleed valve zinc-plated steel, and the piston seals Formula 1 compound, a combination picked so the unit keeps sealing after years of heat cycling and brake fluid contact rather than needing an early rebuild. An offset built into the fixing riser stops the body flexing under braking, and a quick-release jumper there means the pump can be freed from its clamp for servicing without touching the hose joint.
A Scooter-Sized Piston With a Street-Ready Pivot
At 14 mm, the piston fitted here is the smallest in the Ready To Brake range and the size Accossato suggests specifically for scooters, where lever effort needs to stay light and the front brake is usually a single disc with a smaller calliper. The 18 mm pivot distance paired with it is rated for track use and also recommended for street riding, giving a lever feel that is neither the softest nor the firmest setting available on this piston, which suits a scooter or small-displacement bike used mainly on the road with the occasional spirited ride. The Ready To Brake body still shortens the passive lever stroke compared with a conventional master cylinder of this size, so the light pull does not come at the cost of a vague-feeling brake.
Fitment and Compatibility
No motorcycle-specific listing covers this master cylinder, and our fitment records show no matched vehicles; the part is treated as a universal 14 mm radial unit for a 22 mm handlebar clamp. Measure your own handlebar clamp, check that the brake hydraulics are designed around a 14 mm bore, and confirm this piston size suits the calliper and disc already on your scooter or motorcycle.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
