DescriptionThe whole story▼
On the left of the Granpasso 1200's handlebar sits the lever that does most of the work at low speed. Moto Morini's V-twin traveller asks for plenty of clutch control in hairpins, on steep ramps and in the tight turns that small mountain roads force on you. Accossato's LV014 is a folding clutch lever for this bike, listed for 2008 to 2018 and mounted on the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder. Its reach to the grip can be adjusted, and its blade is hinged so that it can swing out of the way in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Moto Morini Granpasso 1200 (2008 to 2018)
- Fits the original hydraulic clutch master cylinder
- Reach adjuster built into the black base
- Blade joined to the base by a folding joint
- Eight blade colours, titanium among them
- Choice of RST blade with lightening cut-out or plain NRST blade
- One standard length, CNC-machined aluminium
Construction and Material Quality
Both parts of the LV014 start as aluminium and are shaped on CNC machines before they are anodised. Anodising turns the outer layer of the metal into a hard oxide that takes up the dye, so the colour is part of the surface rather than a coat sitting on it. The base, which carries the pivot and the adjuster, stays black on every version. The blade can be black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium. Titanium is the name of an anodised colour here, and the blade remains aluminium whichever one you choose.
Turning Round on a Narrow Road
Every rider who explores small mountain roads knows the moment. The tarmac ends, or the road turns out to be a dead end, and a bike as tall as the Granpasso 1200 has to be turned round in a space barely wider than its own length. You do it at walking pace, on the clutch, with the bars at full lock and the rear brake steadying everything. If the surface drops away or the front tyre meets a patch of grit, the bike can lean past the point of recovery and go down on the inside of the turn, which in a left-hand U-turn is the clutch side. A conventional lever takes the whole blow at its tip. The LV014's blade can fold back at the joint instead, which lowers the risk of snapping it in exactly this kind of slow drop. That matters most far from home, where a missing clutch lever turns every pull-away into a struggle. Before the next trip, set the reach so that two fingers can slip the clutch without stretching; the slow turn itself becomes calmer when the hand is not working at full span.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the LV014 for the Granpasso 1200 from 2008 to 2018 and fits it to the original clutch master cylinder, which on this Moto Morini is hydraulic. It pairs with the LV012, the folding brake lever for the same years, if you want both sides of the bar to match. A third option for the right side of the Granpasso is the RA001, a folding brake lever with a remote adjuster.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE on record for this clutch lever. It is sold for use on closed circuits.
