DescriptionThe whole story▼
The 1190 Adventure R was KTM's answer for riders whose route plans include unpaved roads and long distances between towns: a 21-inch spoked front wheel, an 18-inch rear, long-travel suspension and a V-twin with plenty in reserve. Trips like that are planned around what could go wrong far from a workshop. The Accossato EDD001 is a CNC-machined aluminium front brake lever for the 1190 Adventure R, listed for 2013 to 2016, with an adjustable reach and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the KTM 1190 Adventure R, 2013 to 2016
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Adjustable reach
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm in seven colours
- Short blade in five colours, long blade in four
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- Rigid design without a folding joint
- Supplied in an Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
The EDD001 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and then anodised. On a bike that is washed down after a muddy day and ridden again the next morning, that finish is practical: the colour is part of a hard oxide layer rather than paint, and it does not flake at the edges. The hub, with the pivot and the reach adjuster, is always black; the blade carries the colour. The lever is fixed, one piece from hub to tip, and it does not fold.
A Spare in the Luggage
Levers are among the parts most often damaged when an adventure bike goes down on a trail. A fixed lever such as the EDD001 has no folding joint, so in a hard fall it can bend or break, just as the original can. Riders who travel through remote regions therefore often pack a spare lever alongside the tyre levers and the puncture kit, because a missing front brake lever ends a journey faster than almost anything else. A spare that is already known, in your preferred length and identical to the fitted lever, turns a potential wait for parts into a repair you have planned for. Carry the tools the job needs as well, and practise the swap once at home, where a dropped bolt rolls across a garage floor rather than into gravel. For a 1190 Adventure R heading far off the beaten track, a second EDD001 in the tool roll takes up very little space.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDD001 for the 1190 Adventure R from 2013 to 2016. It mounts on the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever. The ESA090 is Accossato's clutch lever for the same bike and model years, should you want a spare for the left hand as well.
Road Approval
The EDD001 is sold for track use, as a German ABE has not been documented for it.
