DescriptionThe whole story▼
The forecast said dry, but the first session of the track day starts on a damp circuit, and the Ducati Panigale 899 waiting in the pit lane has cold tyres and a rider whose boots got wet on the walk from the paddock. Grip then matters in more places than the tyre contact patch. Accossato's FT097 is an adjustable racing street rearset for the Panigale 899 of 2013 to 2015. Made of aluminium, it puts the feet further back than the stock footrests, keeps the standard shift pattern and has knurled pegs and lever tips for a firmer hold.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, gives the FT097 plain, functional lines and puts the effort into the contact points. The rearset is made of aluminium; the footpegs and the tips of the gear and brake levers carry a knurled texture, and aluminium plates shield the heels. Accossato calls the kit adjustable without detailing the adjustment, so the fitting workshop will set it up on the bike. Choose all black for a quiet look, or black with red details to echo Ducati red.
Wet Soles on Metal
Race boots are made for feel and protection, not for walking across wet grass to the pit garage. Their soles are firm and fairly smooth, and once wet they slide easily over polished metal. On a Panigale 899 you notice that most under braking, when your weight shifts forward and your feet have to hold you in place with the help of your knees against the tank. A knurled peg gives the sole an edge to rest on instead of a surface to skate across. The same goes for the lever tips: a knurled tip is easier to find by feel when water is running off your boot. In the wet, keep your inputs smooth, keep the balls of your feet on the pegs and let the bike move underneath you rather than fighting it. Dry your soles on a towel before you head out, and check that no grass or mud from the paddock has lodged in the knurling.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT097 for the Panigale 899 from 2013 to 2015. It takes the place of the factory footrests on both sides and keeps the standard gear shift. Because the rearset changes where the brake pedal and gear lever sit, a specialist workshop should fit it, set up both linkages, give the brake pedal a little free play and confirm that the brake light works. Tighten every fastener to the torque Ducati specifies for the 899.
Road Approval
We could not document a German ABE or a parts certificate for the FT097. We sell it for circuit use on the Panigale 899.
