Of the small Suzukis sharing this airbox, the GSX-R150 is the one most likely to spend a weekend on a circuit: fully faired, the most focused of the group, sold into markets where small-capacity racing is taken seriously. So it is worth being exact about what an air filter does for a rider with a stopwatch: it does not find lap time. A standard machine is not held back by its filter element, and the Sprint Filter P08 PM250S is not sold on that promise. What it offers across a race day is sameness — the last session on the same intake resistance as the first, because a dry element can be cleaned in the paddock in the time it takes to refuel.
Key Features
- Between sessions: compressed air, refitted at once — nothing to dry, nothing to re-oil
- Dry P08 polyester without a trace of oil, so no film travels onto the throttle body
- The medium holds at 80 microns and flows 5,050 litres per square metre per second
- The filtering surface behind it is roughly double that of other performance filters
- Standard airbox, standard position, no modification and no remap
- Two years of warranty from purchase, on an element washed rather than replaced
Cleaning between sessions
This is where a dry medium parts company with an oiled one. Compressed air from the clean side outwards, a look at the sealing face, back into the housing: minutes, and nothing wet goes near the intake. An oiled cotton filter comes with a procedure — wash, dry thoroughly, re-oil evenly, wait for it to spread — which does not fit into the hour between two outings. A rider who cannot service the filter at the track does not service it, and runs the afternoon on what the morning left behind. On a GSX-R150 the fairing panel is the slow part of the job; the element is quick.
What the medium is
The P08 is a single layer of woven polyester, spun from threads of 22 microns and upwards, filtering at 80 microns and flowing 5,050 litres per square metre per second across roughly double the surface of other performance filters. It is never oiled and washable rather than disposable. Sprint Filter measured four-layer oiled cotton holding 76.42 per cent of 100-micron test particles against 93.13 per cent for this dry weave. Finer media are made for harder air — P037 at 37 microns, P14 at 14, T12 at 7 — and each step finer gives up flow, the P14 passing 1,800. A trade rather than a ranking; for road and track use the P08 is the standard answer.
Care and cleaning
On a track day the PM250S can be blown through from the clean side outwards as often as looks worth doing. A deeper clean is lukewarm water and a mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear; the element then dries completely in open air, away from heat and any flame, and is refitted dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-R150, built 2017 to 2020, a direct replacement in the standard airbox with no modification. The same element covers the other small-capacity Suzukis on this airbox plus one machine from another marque; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
