DescriptionThe whole story▼
Nine hundred grams. That is the entire mid-section of an MT-10's exhaust once Akrapovic has replaced it — down from 6.7 kg, and light enough to lift with two fingers.
Key Features
- 0.9 kg against the standard 6.7 kg: 5.8 kg and 86.6 per cent less
- 4.1 Nm more at 4,150 rpm — low in the range, where a crossplane four is lazy
- 2.5 PS more at 11,150 rpm
- Lightweight titanium construction
- Designed exclusively for the titanium Slip-On Line muffler
- No road approval — circuit use only
Torque at Four Thousand
The 4.1 Nm arrives at 4,150 rpm. On an MT-10 that is the part of the range where the crossplane engine is at its least willing — it is a detuned R1 motor, and it wants revs it does not always get on the road.
Filling in there is worth more day to day than the 2.5 PS at 11,150, which lives above where most riders spend their time.
The Companion to the Slip-On
The Slip-On Line for this generation of MT-10 is S-Y10SO15-HAPT, and it is type approved on its own. Adding this link pipe removes the catalytic converter and ends that approval — a genuine trade rather than a free upgrade.
The two together form a complete exhaust from the headers back. Fitted alone, the slip-on stays road legal.
Not the 2022 Bike
Yamaha revised the MT-10 for 2022 with a different exhaust layout. This pipe covers 2016 to 2021; a newer machine takes L-Y10SO19/2, which is a separate part with its own figures.
Titanium Where It Cannot Be Seen
This pipe sits under the engine and disappears once the bike is back together. Paying for titanium in a place nobody looks only makes sense for one reason: 5.8 kg.
Steel could do the same job for less money and half the saving. That is the whole trade, and it is worth stating plainly.
Sixty Minutes
The MT-10's mid-section comes out from below with the belly area clear. An hour covers it on a bike on a stand.
Which MT-10 Is Yours
The visual difference between the 2016 and the 2022 MT-10 is in the headlight and the fairing panels, which is easy to miss on a photograph. The registration document settles it, and it decides which of the two link pipes you need.
Six Model Years
The MT-10 in this form ran from 2016 to 2021, and Yamaha changed nothing about the exhaust route in that time. One pipe covers the whole generation, including the SP with its Öhlins suspension and the American FZ-10.
Two Fingers of Titanium
Nine hundred grams is light enough that the first reaction on unpacking it is usually disbelief. That is what six point seven kilograms of steel pre-muffler becomes when the catalytic converter is not part of the design.
Fitment and Compatibility
L-Y10SO15T covers the Yamaha MT-10, MT-10 SP and the American FZ-10 from 2016 through 2021. Installation is quoted at 60 minutes.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
